Chicken and Dumplings is a wonderful, easy dinner that is sure to please everyone! I love #southerncooking and this recipe of mine is one of my favorites. My boyfriend says its even better than Cracker Barrels! You’ll love this simple #crockpot meal.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cans biscuit dough
- 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cans cream of chicken
- 1 pkg. frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, and corn), slightly thawed
- 1-2 cups chicken broth to cover
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 tbsp. garlic salt
- 1/2 tbsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- sea salt and pepper, to taste
To begin, dice the onion and place at the bottom of the #crockpot. Next, halve your chicken breasts and place them on top of the onions. Make sure to season your chick with sea salt and pepper! Add the mixed veggies and cream of chicken.
Add your seasonings and cover with chicken broth. Depending on how thawed your veggies are, they will add water to the recipe when they cook, so go easy on the chicken broth, only use enough to cover!
Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours. About 2 hours before serving, add the biscuit dough. (I tear the dough into halves and roll them into balls before dropping them in the crockpot). Stir to combine. When you stir, the chicken should just fall apart! There’s no need to remove it and shred it by hand.
When the dumplings are golden brown, let cool and serve! Enjoy :)
