White Queso

This recipe is identical to Tex-Mex restaurant quality queso, and can be adjusted to your spice preference. (Try it with my copy-cat recipe for a crunch wrap supreme!)

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 pound white American cheese, cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 8 oz. chopped green chilies
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 tbsp diced pickled jalapeños and their juice, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon (or to taste) Chalula, or your favorite hot sauce

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat, add spices and cook until fragrant.
  2. Add the milk and cheese in batches, stirring occasionally until the cheese is melted.
  3. Add the green chilies and chopped jalapeño until it’s as spicy as you like!
  4. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips and enjoy!
