One year, I needed apple jam for my Christmas pork glaze but my mom accidentally bought apricot jam instead of apple jam, and we didn’t notice till Christmas Day when all the stores were closed. We had extra apples left over, though, so I made some jam from scratch. My grandfather ate it with a spoon he loved it so much. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 6 apples, sliced thin
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Directions:
- Core and cut your apples into thin slices.
- Add apples and water to a large pan and bring to a boil. Cook until apples are soft.
- Remove from heat and let apples cool. When cool, use immersion blender (or any blender) to blend and make smooth.
- Return the apples to the heat and add sugar, bring to a boil.
- Add lemon juice.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until jam is thickened.
- Let cool and enjoy!
